Trigas at the Hydrogen Technology Expo: Calibratable hydrogen measurements for the entire supply chain

The hydrogen economy is booming – but there is one problem: how can hydrogen be measured accurately?

From October 20 to 22, 2026, we will be demonstrating how calibratable hydrogen measurements work across the entire supply chain – from the source to the filling station – at the Hydrogen Technology Expo Europe in Hamburg (booth 4A32).

GH2+ is our mobile calibratable solution for delivery trucks. It measures highly compressed hydrogen during delivery to filling stations or customer tanks – precisely, legally compliant, and calibratable. GH2 Source measures stationary at the hydrogen source or at the electrolyzer. GH2 Hub offers the same security at trailer exchange stations.

This is not just technology. It is legal certainty. The operator must be sure that the displayed value is within defined calibration and traffic error limits – just like at a petrol station. Thanks to our partnership with TrigasFI GmbH – our specialized calibration laboratory with DAkkS accreditation – we also take care of recurring calibrations on site or in the laboratory.

Visit us at the expo and discover the complete H2 measurement solution from TrigasDM.

TrigasFI Seminar Flow Measurement and Calibration

Liquids and Fluids

At TrigasFI, we calibrate, adjust and program thousands of flowmeters every year. As a result, we have acquired a deep and exceptional knowledge of the characteristics of many flow measurement principles. We know how best to calibrate, install and operate them for the best possible accuracy and reliability. We are happy to share this knowledge with our customers during training courses, seminars and on-site consultations as part of the “Flow Measurement and Calibration” seminar.

This seminar is aimed at interested parties in the areas of purchasing, calibration, engineering and all users of flow meters.

It is designed as a neutral, manufacturer-independent seminar. The focus is on the physical fundamentals, the operation of modern flow measurement techniques, the theory and technology of calibration as well as metrological traceability.

Hyvolution 2026: Hydrogen measurement technology for the future

TrigasDM and TrigasFI are demonstrating at Europe’s largest hydrogen trade fair. Precision under extreme conditions is no coincidence

Hyvolution 2026 in Paris was a complete success for us. From January 27 to 29, we presented our latest solutions for hydrogen measurement technology at booth N23 – and the feedback from the industry was unmistakable: the demand for calibratable, high-precision measurement systems is exploding.

New markets, new requirements!

We were particularly pleased that industries we had not previously focused on showed great interest. The energy industry and heavy-duty transport have recognised that hydrogen infrastructure cannot function without reliable measurement. From gas stations to supply networks and filling stations, wherever H2 is handled, the same question arises: How can I measure accurately and in compliance with calibration requirements?

The answer lies in our hydrogen measurement systems for on-site calibration and our GH2 flow measurement systems for extreme pressures and temperatures.

Workshop with scientific depth

On 28 January, Mr Raphael Michael, Development Engineer at TrigasDM GmbH, gave a presentation as part of a workshop.

He presented what we have been working on for years: “Accuracy Under Pressure: Practical Calibration Techniques of Coriolis Flow Meters for Hydrogen Applications”. Based on five years of calibration data from our partner TrigasFI, we presented practical calibration methods for extreme conditions.

🔬 up to 875 bar pressure
    ❄️ up to -40 °C temperture
📊 0,7–1,1% accuracy (vs. >2% using standard methods)

This is not theoretical knowledge – it is proven practice from our accredited laboratory.

International demand is growing.

Another clear trend is the rapid growth in demand for calibratable systems. Hydrogen is a global commodity, and wherever H₂ is traded, reliable measurement technology is required. TrigasFI gives us a decisive advantage here: we are one of the few companies in Europe with an ISO 17025-accredited high-pressure gas calibration facility, which makes all the difference.

What does this mean for you?

Whether you work in the energy sector, logistics, research, or industry: the hydrogen revolution has shown that accuracy, safety, and reliability are no longer optional features – they are basic requirements for anyone who wants to be successful in the hydrogen economy.

We are ready to support you in this endeavor.

When it comes to LNG, only real measurement accuracy counts – The CryoMet Calibration Campaign proves who delivers

In the trade of liquefied gas and biomethane, a 0.5% measurement deviation can quickly lead to million-dollar losses. But how do you really know what accuracy a flow meter achieves in actual operation? Manufacturer specifications are one thing, field relevance is quite another. This is precisely where the CryoMet Calibration Campaign comes in. A globally unique project that doesn’t measure theoretical values, but investigates the actually achievable measurement accuracy under real conditions.

The constellation: Top expertise meets top equipment

The consortium combines two critical factors:

  1. World-class reference infrastructure
Calibrations take place at VSL’s LNG facility (Dutch Metrology Institute) – with direct SI traceability. This means: every measurement is internationally recognized and reproducible.
  2. Equipment from market leaders
Emerson, Endress+Hauser, KROHNE, and TrigasDM provide their measurement technology. This is no marketing gimmick – it’s mutual confidence in your own quality.

What is measured and why it matters?

The campaign doesn’t just examine flow meters, but the entire measurement chain:

  • Flow measurement devices
  • Densitometers (density measurement)
  • Composition analysis of LNG and liquefied biomethane

Here’s the decisive point: whoever only calibrates individual components gets an incomplete picture. Real measurement accuracy depends on the entire chain, under conditions that match actual operation.

The added value for you as a buyer or seller

The results create transparency and comparability:

  • No hidden uncertainties
  • Fair billing based on proven accuracy
  • Systematic advantages or disadvantages are eliminated

For TrigasDM, participation in this study sends a clear signal: we stand behind our measurement technology. Not just with certificates, but with data.

Our flow meters are among the most precise in the world – we know that. But we also know: in the field, only what’s measurable counts. That’s why we support independent calibration campaigns. Trust requires more than certificates – it requires real expertise.

Our sister company TrigasFI GmbH operates one of Europe’s DAkkS-certified calibration laboratories (ISO 17025). This experience flows into every measurement.

Critical Venturi vs. Bell Prover - A Comparison of Gas Flow Calibration Technologies

When it comes to calibrating gas flow with precision, there are often two systems to choose from: the Bell Prover, which is the primary standard, or high-performance Sonic Nozzle Test Benches. In our latest article, we highlight the key differences between the two systems and explain why Sonic Nozzles are the smarter choice for many industrial applications today.

Gas flow calibration is evolving: While the Bell Prover remains a primary standard, Critical Venturi or Sonic Nozzle technology is increasingly dominating industrial applications. Offering continuous, pressure-independent calibration with minimal maintenance and an impressive turndown ratio of up to 4,000:1, Sonic Nozzles outperform traditional systems in flexibility and cost-efficiency. Despite the lack of primary standard status, critical nozzles achieve comparable measurement accuracy through precise calibration traceable to primary standards and high long-term stability.

For modern, cost-conscious calibration processes, Sonic Nozzles provide an efficient and future-proof alternative—unless regulations explicitly require a primary standard.
